Getting a Rope Ladder

The first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word “rope ladder” is: it is made of rope and is used by kids to climb the tree house. Although this is the case, there is more to this type of ladder. Where a regular ladder can’t be placed, rope ladders can take their place to allow the user to access a higher platform.

Many designs of rope ladders have been developed through the years. But the basic form is still the same. Typical ladders are sometimes limited in terms of where you can use them and that’s where these rope ones come in. They also need a limited space for storage unlike the rigid types.

The ladder itself is a simple design where there is rope that holds the steps of the ladder in place. There are two basic ways to make the rungs of the ladder. One method is to simple make the rungs out of rope which will give the ladder a bit more flexibility. The other way is to use wood or metal as rigid rungs and integrate it in the design.

There are many different uses for rope ladders. A rope ladder can actually be used in some pretty creative ways. For safety purposes, if you live in a 2-story home or an apartment complex that is high off the ground, you can use this type of rope as an emergency escape route to climb out and down to the ground in case of a fire. People even use it in outdoor activities such as mountain climbing where there aren’t any good holds to get up a mountain.

You can buy one or actually make one if you wanted to if you have the know how. Obviously, if you’re not too good with these sort of things, it’s best to just buy one at the store for safety reasons. There are different quality of rope ladders to choose from so buy the appropriate one for whatever purpose you will be using the ladder for.
