Custom Signage Keeps the Cash Flowing

Imagine you’ve been experiencing pain in your lower back and want to get your back professionally adjusted. You haven’t seen a chiropractor before, and don’t have a clue where to start looking. The next week, while driving to work, your eyes land on a custom business sign for a local chiropractic office. You write down their name and search it online when you arrive to work. Ten minutes later you are on the phone lining up your first appointment with that chiropractor.

Now imagine you and your family are going on vacation. You’ve packed up your car and are trekking from Charleston, South Carolina up to Boston, Massachusetts. Several hours into the trip, you find yourself driving through the city center of a small town where your antsy children are complaining of hunger and begging to stop at their favorite chain restaurant.

Unfortunately for the kids, their choice restaurant is nowhere in sight, though there definitely was one in that very town. But a block down the road you see a custom business sign for a family diner that you pull over and eat at.

Now perhaps the first time you took your kids to that favorite chain restaurant of theirs was because you and your husband saw an inticing advertisement on TV. Maybe it’s the kids like it because of the games and prizes they have in the back of the dining area. And you love it because of the superb customer service you receive every visit. But all of the commercials and superb customer service in the world wasn’t enough to bring you to their restaurant that specific day. In the end, it was the custom sign that sealed the deal and had you handing over the dough.

The street is where potential customers are.

Business messages displayed on custom signs along the street reach those who are in proximity to actually make a purchase. Street advertising helps everyone remember the products or service you sell, and people usually buy from businesses they can recall.

Since custom signs are oriented to your trade area, reaching out only to the people who are in your surrounding area, custom signs do not waste your money by making you pay for wasted advertising coverage.

So as a business owner who wants more bang for their buck, a custom sign along the street in front of your office is the way to go!

Economical Vinyl Banner Signs Give You the Most Bang for Your Buck!

All shapes and sizes of vinyl banners have been around for ages. Vinyl banners are one of the most popular types of signs there is. They offer the most BANG for your buck when it comes to promoting your business, event, school or organization to people of all ages. Custom banners have come along way recently, making it more economical to move forward from one color vinyl banners to full color digitally printed banners. It is also cheaper and easier to print larger custom banners.

Vinyl banner signs open the door to make a lasting impression on potential clients. Pretend you are walking through a shopping center. Most shopping centers have a lot of shops, packaging centers, cafes, etc. You are not there for any specific reason just browsing through…

What would you notice first?

1. The packaging store with a few small “Ship Here” signs on the door
2. The coffee shop with the “Buy 1 Get 1 Free” latte special decal on their window
3. The full color vinyl banner that fills the store front at the travel agency promoting a cruise special they are offering to the Caribbean

I don’t know about you, but I can smell the ocean and feel the sand under my feet just looking at that full color banner in the window! That definitely caught my attention even though I had no intentions of shopping for a cruise package.

Why choose custom banners over other types of custom signs out there?

Vinyl banners are offered in a many different sizes, have simple installation and require very little assembly. Vinyl banners are perfect for indoor and outdoor uses. They can be mounted to buildings, hung across streets, attached to light poles or simply mounted to the inside of a travel agents window. Vinyl banners can be made single or double sided depending on your needs.

They are especially ideal for temporary promotions, community events, grand openings and so much more. They roll up so they are easy to store, are economical to ship, and still offer that WOW factor!

You wouldn’t want to replace your roadside sign or backlit store front sign every time the weeks special changed or you had a sale. You don’t want to have to buy a new wooden sign every time you have a fundraiser in your city. And you surely don’t want your back storage room to be loaded down year round with your Holiday Specials Signs because you needed to make a BIG impression last holiday season, but couldn’t roll your signs up and put them away!

In many cases, custom banners are the most logical and economical decision. They offer limitless options that can create a huge impact no matter what your message is or who you are reaching out to. Vinyl banners help you leave a lasting impression without spending a fortune or taking up all of your storage space.

Are all vinyl banners created the same?

Not really. Vinyl banners can be made on various weights of material ranging from 10 ounce to 16 ounce. The standard weight for most uses is 13 ounce vinyl banner material. This is the most readily used banner material in the sign industry. It is a nice, heavy weight material that is perfect for indoor or outdoor use. Vinyl banners can still be made the old fashioned way on manufactured banner material with vinyl letters and graphics applied to the surface, but most sign companies digitally print all banners whether it is a one color banner or full color. This way the whole thing is printed straight from the computerized file and there is less room for human error. Another advantage of digitally printing all banners is that there isn’t any vinyl for people to mess with or remove to cause damage your sign.

There are several ways to finish your vinyl banner, pertaining to the way they are hemmed or mounted. Most sign companies offer taped hem or heat sealed edges. You can also opt to have hems sewn on or choose to have no finishing at all. No finishing is okay for one time or occasional use. Taped hem or heat sealed edges offer a finished look with durability for long term use. Sewn hems are highly recommended for street banners and other larger outdoor banner signs that will be under more wear and tear.

Other finishing for vinyl banners can be determined by how exactly the banner will be used or installed. The most popular are grommets, also known as eyelets – they are typically applied every 2 feet so that you can install your vinyl banner with rope, zip ties, suction cups, etc. depending on where it is being installed. Banners can also be mounted with pole pockets, sewn in rope, D-rings, wind slits and webbing.

Each of these accessories or finishing options serve different purposes, can be used differently and range in cost, depending on the size of your vinyl banner.

So how to I get started with the creation of a custom business banner?

1. Decide on a main message – Don’t overdo it – keep it simple but BOLD!
2. Figure out how far away it needs to be visible from – Will your audience be walking by or across the street?
3. What colors do you want to go with?
4. Any logos or specific graphics you would like to use?
5. Where do you plan to displayed your banner?

By thinking ahead on these key points, you will have a good idea of what you are expecting. This way your sign company can design a vinyl banner to not only make the statement you want, but meet your needs for how you plan to use it. By knowing how far it needs to be visible from your sign company can design your banner sign to insure it will make the most impact possible to your audience.

So the next time your potential customers are walking through your shopping center, who would you rather be?

The packaging store, the java shop or the travel agency?

My money is on the trip to the Caribbean…
